Civil War Through the
Eyes of North Texans
Family Day
Old Red’s summer exhibit, The Civil War Through the Eyes of North Texans, kicked off on June 21 with a fun-filled day of talks, demonstrations, crafts, activities, and music. Re-enactors from all over the North Texas area gathered in period dress to bring this special exhibit to life. Fun was had by all with talks on Civil War-era medicine, demonstrations on how to load Civil War weapons, and performances by the Heritage Brass Band.

Going Places got into gear with a Transportation Fair on August 30. Segway demonstrations, an appearance by an authentic 19th century stagecoach, and an arrival by the H.O.G.s (Harley Owners’ Group) of Dallas created quite a stir at the steps of Old Red. Inside, LifeWalk and travel agents Archer-Ver Eecke Company brought transportation to Old Red’s visitors. Russ Warman provided “music to travel by” in the reception gallery.
