The Building in Renovation

Architectural archeology has been underway since May, 2001, in Dallas' Old Red Courthouse, a historic building undergoing renovation. Throughout the summer of 2001, false walls and dropped ceilings were removed, revealing magnificent interior structure detailing with vaulted heights and grand spaces.

The building itself is revealed as a historic artifact as one piece of graffiti after another was found.

Grand Stair Restoration

  • 92 six-foot wide steps

  • Composed of cast iron and steel - supported-cast iron (total 33 tons)
  • 6,000 bolts and rivets
  • 10,000 hours of construction effort.
